How to clean Tile floor?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

I would like to know how to keep the tile and grout clean without using harmful chemical since I have pet inside live with me. How often should I clean them? and how to do it?

I block my dog off from that particular room that I have tiles in and open up all the windows. Then I bleach everything then rinse it out big time.

What type of flooring should I install in my kitchen & bath?

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

I live in a small home (buillt mid -1950’s) in the midwest. I want to replace the ceramic tile currently in kitchen/bath with something that is easier to maintain but that will still look nice. (I don’t like the ceramic because its a) white, b) any thing made of glass that falls on the floor is guaranteed to break, and c) I absolutely cannot keep the grout clean, no matter what I do!) I would like the flooring I select to go well with the original hardwoods that are found throughout the rest of the home. I also want to select something that will appeal to buyers in a few years when we sell. The homes in our area sell for around $145K so I want to select flooring that is appropriate for this price range. Any ideas? Thanks!

See if you can get a small (1 inch) sample of your current wood trim. Take it to a flooring retailer and they can match it up to a SOLID flloring that you can have installed. I recommend SOLID rather than laminate because you are worried about dropping things. Objects dropped on laminate flooring can go thru the laminate and then you have to replace an entire section. With a SOLID floor, dings and scrapes will not show.

how to clean floor tile grout?

Thursday, January 24th, 2013

I have a sand color grout between my floor tile. My home is now 2 1/2 years old. In the kitchen area a lot of the floor has started turning a darker brown color. I have tried grout cleaner, with no luck. Any suggestions?

Bleach and water…squirt or pour the solution onto the grout, scrub with a toothbrush.
Make sure the area is well ventilated, and wear rubber or latex gloves.

How can I get the canvas colored grout clean without removing it?

Monday, January 21st, 2013

We put new ceramic tile in our house just a week ago and already the canvas colored grout it looking dirty and stained. I have three kids so there is a lot of traffic in the kitchen where it is the worst. We cleaned with sulfamic acid then sealed twice but still looks stained. What can I do to get this grout new and clean looking again and prevent all the dark spots? I have tried bleach and floor cleaners. Help!

We hand scrubbed our with an old tooth brush. You really shouldn’t have this problem if the sealer was doing it’s job. Try a different brand after you scrub it with a good cleaner (I love Mr. Clean for everything).

How is it possible to restore the brightness of marble tiles?

Saturday, January 12th, 2013

I was trying to clean the grout between tiles with a specific grout cleaner, but I probably used too much and I spread it all around the tiles.
After cleaning it, I noticed that all marble tiles (we are talking of cheap marble from China, not from Italy) were not shiny anymore.

Is there any product that I can use to restore their former brightness? Please don’t tell me that I need to call a contractor with a proper polisher.

You don’t have marble what you have is fabricated marble that can be made from any number of materials. The process to make marble is quite intensive that is why it is so expensive and it would have held up to the grout cleaner better than that. To restore the shine use a car wax and buffer and you will see a big improvement than you will have to reclean the grout but use a milder cleaner this time. Bonus of shining it up with car wax is it will stay cleaner longer. good luck
